I’m putting my all into Saints

Gaffer is 100 per cent committed to club

St Mirren manager Jack Ross has reiterated his “100 per cent commitment” to the club having returned from his holiday.

Ross was linked with the manager’s position at Premiership Dundee last week, while he was sunning himself in Spain, but turned down the advances of the Dens Park club in favour of sticking with the Saints.

And talking to Express Sport, the St Mirren gaffer insists he is fully focused on continuing the hard work behind the scenes as they prepares the club for their assault on the Championship next season.

Ross said: “I was 100 per cent content with my job when I boarded the plane to go on holiday, and I was 100 per cent content when I was coming home on Sunday night. I very much enjoy the job that I am doing here and I don’t see that changing.

“I’m putting everything I have into this club, and that remains to be the case.

“I’ve never made any secret that I am ambitious, anyone who has met me knows that, but my full attention is on St Mirren and what we can achieve here.

“We are building for next season and my focus is fully on that.”

Ross now looks set for showdown talks with the board next week as the two parties get set to sit down and discuss a new contract. Ross and assistant manager, James Fowler are set to be rewarded for their efforts since joining the club in October with new deals.

But the St Mirren manager insists that a new deal was something always on the table before any reported interest from Dundee.

He added: “A new contract was something that the chairman and the board had intimated prior to me going on holiday.

“They we always keen to sit down with myself and James, but it has been difficult in recent weeks just down to the fact that Tony (Fitzpatrick) has been on holiday, Gordon Scott has been out the country, and obviously me and James have also been away.

“So it is something we will discuss once everyone is back.” ● St Mirren’s Betfred Cup clash with Partick Thistle will be shown live on BT Sport, it’s been announced.

The full fixture list for the competition’s Group H has been revealed, with the Saints kicking off the tournament away at Stranraer on Saturday, July 15.

Livingston will visit Paisley three nights later on Tuesday, July 18 for a 7.45pm kick-off.

The television cameras will be on hand to capture the action at Firhill as the Buddies take on Partick Thistle on Saturday, July 22, at 3pm.

Jack Ross’s men will take on Airdrieonians at the City of Culture 2021 Stadium in the final game of Group H on Saturday, July 29, at 3pm
