Corinne’s so inspiring
Every time I read about Corinne Hutton in the Paisley Daily Express, I think ‘Wow, what an amazing woman’.
As your readers will know, Corinne, from Lochwinnoch, is a quadruple amputee.
Through the Finding Your Feet charity, she now works to support other people who have lost limbs.
In recent times, she has organised — and tackled — activities including abseils and bike rides, and she even managed to walk up Ben Nevis.
It must be horrendous for people to hear they must have a limb amputated, and this is why charities like Finding Your Feet are so valuable.
To be able to speak to people who have been through a similar lifechanging operation must bring some comfort.
So well done to Corinne and her team of sponsors and supporters. Margaret Campbell Paisley

As a branch, we were delighted to read about the University of the West of Scotland’s commitment to young people. (Express, June 7)
It is already one of the main providers of access to further education to many from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The ‘stand alone’ initiative will support so many students who do not have family support.
Some of our branch are graduates from the UWS and gained so much from their time there.
We want higher education to reach out to communities and individuals.
The UWS takes this seriously, offering additional support required when needed.
This approach helps those to learn in a safe, supportive environment.
The not so young ones of our branch remember the days of bursaries, not loans that mean many face getting into debt for the basics such as food and a roof over their heads.
We would like a return to bursaries — free fees should just be the beginning.
Well done to the UWS and all the help it makes such an effort to give to its students. Sandra Webster Renfrewshire Branch Scottish Socialist Party
