Repairs mean yob’s tagging is delayed

-

A repeat offender with mental health issues is facing being tagged ... once the ceiling in his mum’s house is repaired.

The bizarre scenario unfolded at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday when a sheriff was told Mark Michie might need to move to a new address due to damage at the family home.

When the 22- year- old returned to the dock for sentencing following a Restriction of Liberty Order assessment, his lawyer Terry Gallanagh advised it could be up to six months before alternative accommodation can be found.

Michie has a string of matters awaiting disposal as deferred sentences, mostly relating to disturbances he caused in Thrushcraigs Crescent.

He also admitted having unlawful possession of cocaine.

Mr Gallanagh asked if the sheriff could postpone making a final decision on whether or not his client was to be electronically tagged until it became clear that there was a property available in which that could be achieved.

After considering submissions, Sheriff David Pender agreed to defer sentence further unt i l November 6, ordering the accused to return to court then for final disposal.

He warned sternly: “You must be of good behaviour and if you commit any further offence, not even Mr Gallanagh will be able to prevent you from being sent to custody.”
