Brute lost the plot in street with partner

Thug jailed after foul-mouthed rant

- Chris Taylor

31.08.2017 A yob has been jailed for four months for abusing his partner during a row.

James Docherty, 36, bawled and swore at Nicola Creighton in a foul-mouthed rant that sparked a police call-out.

He was banned from her street and told to keep away from her after the rammy.

But he thumbed his nose at the order to visit their daughter, 13, at her home while Ms Creighton went to work.

Appearing at Paisley Sheriff Court, Docherty was jailed after admitting losing control and a slew of other charges.

Sheriff Colin Pettigrew told him: “You have to understand there are consequences if you offend.”

Docherty had begun hurling abuse at Ms Creighton at her home in the town — despite being on bail for another offence.

He shouted at her in the middle of the street, calling her a ‘f*****g bitch’, asking, ‘where’s my f*****g money?’ and told her to ‘f**k off’.”

Docherty was bailed after the disturbance on May 25.

But he dodged his court appearance just weeks later and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The court heard he breached his bail conditions in July by visiting his victim’s home.

The thug was found outside the flat in the early hours of the morning by police and he was lifted again.

Docherty had previously pleaded guilty to assaulting another man and to careless driving last November.

The brute, of Maxwellton Street, Paisley, has also been ordered to carry out unpaid work.

Defence lawyer Terry Gallanagh blamed his client’s behaviour on booze.

He said: “He has actually been advised not to be too quick to take himself off alcohol because it would cause him harm if he did. “That’s the extent of his addiction. “He has done 27 hours, despite it being said he might not be fit to do any.

“He has delivered on his promises.”
