Trio land top prizes as they impress on the green
Youth won the day at Paisley Golf Club’s 2017 final, with all three major championships going to young golfers.
The junior championship was won by Cameron Lyle, 18, the ladies’ championship by Emma Kennedy, 22, while the club championship was won by Owen Lavelle, 27.
The success of the youngsters was greeted with great pride by club captain Gordon McKinnon, who was delighted to hand over the silverware to the club’s young stars.
And he took time to congratulate all who took part in yet another well run competition at Paisley Golf Club.
He said: “It is wonderful to see such talented young players rise to the top at Paisley Golf Club.
“Owen currently has a handicap of +2, while Emma and Cameron both play off 5.
“They are all truly deserving of their titles.
“Paisley Golf Club believes in fostering young talent.
“We have a vibrant junior section and both our professionals run successful junior golf initiatives.
“Also, a recent club recruitment drive, which targeted golfers in their 20s and 30s, proved very successful and has resulted in the introduction of a waiting list for future applicants.
“Fifteen titles in total were contested on our finals day and I congratulate everyone who took part, both winners and runners up.
“Our greenkeeping staff presented the course in fantastic condition for finals day and it received many compliments from all the competitors.
“Finally, I’d like to thank all the members of Paisley Golf Club, plus their families and friends who turned out to support the contestants and helped create an exciting tournament atmosphere for all to enjoy.”
