Steven is the man in the middle at Renfrewshire derby
Steven McLean will be charged with keeping control of this weekend’s fiesty Renfrewshire derby as St Mirren welcome Morton.
McLean has come under fire from supporters of both Rangers and Motherwell this week, having struggled to keep a lid on the League Cup semi-final clash between the pair at Hampden on Sunday.
He missed ‘ Well striker Ryan Bowman’s flying elbow smashing into Fabio Cardoso’s face, while he also failed to spot Bruno Alves appearing to kick out at Louis Moult, a flashpoint compliance officer Tony McGlennan later deemed worthy of a two- match ban.
McLean will be hoping to keep better control of the clash at the Paisley 2021 Stadium this weekend.
The clash will be the second Renfrewshire derby of the season as the Buddies look to bounce back from their 4-1 defeat at Cappielow earlier in the season.
Elsewhere, this weekend, Craig Charleston will be heading to the Your Radio Stadium as Dumbarton take on managerless Dundee United, following the sacking of Ray McKinnon earlier this week.
Kevin Clancy will be back in charge at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium as John Robertson’s Caley Thistle look to kick into form when they welcome high- flying Dunfermline Athletic.
Stephen Finnie drops down to the Championship for the clash between Livingston and Brechin City at Almondvale, while Steven Kirkland returns to league action at Palmerston for the game between Queen of the South and Paul Hartley’s Falkirk.
