Roads closed for fireworks display

A dazzling weekend is in store for Buddies as Paisley celebrates Guy Fawkes Night with its Firework Spectacula­r.

As always, it’s expected to be a busy event, so take care if you’re heading into the town.

Drivers are advised to plan their route in advance, bearing in mind road closures and allowing time for delays.

Here’s a list of the temporary road closures and parking restrictio­ns in operation.

 No parking waiting or loading until 9pm tonight on: Abercorn Street, (west side only), from Weir Street to Niddry Street; Causeyside Street, (east side only) from Orchard Street to Johnstone Street; Johnstone Street, (north side only) from Causeyside Street and eastwards for a distance of 15 miles; Hawkhead Road, from Glasgow Road to Seedhill Road; Underwood Road, (north side only) from Well Street to Caledonia Street; Arkleston Road, from Glasgow Road, northwards for 4 miles; Glasgow Road, from Whitehaugh Drive to Barshaw Park entrance.

 Road closures effective from early this morning are: Gauze Street, from Mill Street to the Cross; St Mirren Street, from High Street to Causeyside Street at Dunn Square; Cotton Street, from Gauze Street to Renfrewshi­re Council Headquarte­rs and Lawn Street, before Gauze Street and Smithhills Street, from Central Way to Gauze Street.

 From 8am onwards: County Place, from Moss Street to Gilmour Street; Gilmour Street, from County Place to High Street; High Street, from Gilmour Street to New Street; Abbey Close and Bridge Street, from Orchard Street to Renfrewshi­re Council Headquarte­rs and Lagoon south car park.

 From 3.30pm until 8pm: Seedhill Road, from Cochran Street to Mill Street and Seedhill, Mill Street to Abbey Mill Gatehouse will be closed.

 From 4.30pm onwards, there’s no access to Causeyside Street, from New Street to St Mirren Street and Forbes Place.

 From 6.45pm until 8pm, Mill Street, from Lonend to Bank Street will be closed.

Access will be maintained for emergency services at all times.
