Water disaster for Paisley mum outside her own front door

-

A Paisley woman had to don wellies every time she wanted to step outside her threeapartment council home.

And Mrs Isabel Muirhead, 53, claimed she has been wading through large pools of water at the front and back of her house for the past 10 years.

“There’s water, water everywhere and I’m fed up with it.” she said.

“I can smell dampness in the house and I have to leave a heater on virtually all the time.”

Over the years Mrs Muirhead, of Durrockstock Road, Foxbar, had made countless telephone calls to the council repairs department.

“I have had little satisfaction from the department concerned in all these years.

“Several months ago, council workmen did repair a burst pipe in the back garden.

“But water is still coming to the surface,” said Mrs Muirhead, who worked as a cleaner.

She added: “I even spent £40 to get a path at the back resurfaced.

“But that really hasn’t helped much.”

She had no idea where the water at the back or front of the home was coming from.

“Surely the council department can do something,” she pleaded.

Some other gardens near her were also affected by water pools.

A spokesman for the council’s Technical Services department, said: “The matter is being looked into.

“The ground is low lying and all water is gathering there.

“There are drainage plans for this section of Durrockstock Road and work tenders are being looked at.”
