David can go all the way to the top

Boss praises loan star

Johnstone Burgh boss Colin Smith has tipped loan star David Anderson for the very top having been left impressed by the Greenock Morton youngster.

Anderson has been a revelation since penning a temporary deal with the Keanie Park side, as the 18-year-old enjoys his first taste of junior football.

Having nailed down a spot in the starting XI, Smith says Anderson could go all the way if he continues to buckle down and focus on his football.

Smith told Express Sport: “David is a good wee player and everyone has been really impressed with the way he has settled in.

“He is tidy on the ball and rarely wastes a pass. He is going to have a very big future ahead of him if he continues to progess the way he is.

“His attitude since coming into the club has been fantastic and he has really bought into everything.

“You can tell that he is ready to use his time at the Burgh as a way of proving he has what it takes, and credit to him, he has been brilliant.

“He can be a big player for us this season in the midfield. We have lost Greg McBride, who is away travelling for a number of months, so David has had to step into that role, but he has done it well.”

Johnstone Burgh are back in action this weekend when they welcome Royal Albert to Keanie Park.

The visitors have enjoyed a great start to the season, which sees them sitting in third position with five wins from their opening eight games.

In contrast, Burgh find themselves third from bottom as they look to try and mount a run of form to take them into the top half of the table.

Smith added: “Royal Albert have been really impressive so far this season, but I still believe that we can beat anyone on our day.

“Things haven’t always gone right for us so far. We have been really inconsistent.

“But if we turn up and play our game then we are more than able to come away with the three points.”
