Watch for signs of domestic abuse
Police in Renfrewshire are appealing to members of the public to be vigilant when spotting signs of domestic abuse.
The campaign marks the beginning of advent and has been posted on the Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Police Division Facebook page.
A spokesperson said it is “important to know the difference between loving and controlling behaviour”.
The statement read: “Does your boyfriend/ girlfriend embarrass or humiliate you in front of family, friends or in public?
“Do they deliberately destroy your property or cherished possessions?
“Do they force you to engage in sexual acts that you are not comfortable with?
“Do they threaten to publish explicit photos of you on social network sites or send you or your friends threatening text messages? “This is domestic abuse.” The conversation on domestic abuse has been extended to social media, using the hashtag #DomesticAbuseNoExcuse.
Anyone who wishes to raise concerns surrounding this issue can call the Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Domestic Abuse Unit directly on 0141 305 4620, Monday to Friday from 8am till 4pm.
You can dial 999 in an emergency or 101 in a nonemergency
