New office is a roaring success
Team hope to expand after move to East End
A charity that works to reduce loneliness and improve health and wellbeing in Renfrewshire is moving on up after opening the doors of its brand new premises.
Roar - Connections for Life has relocated from Underwood Lane in Paisley to 59 Glasgow Road.
More space and new facilities mean the organisation has the capacity to house more volunteers and develop more projects to meet the growing demand in Renfrewshire.
Roar’s manager Nicola Hanssen told the Express that staff and partners are over the moon with the new and improved space.
“We are delighted to have a new office.
“One of the main advantages is that it is more visible and accessible than our previous base in the West End,” she said.
Now they are up and running in the fresh new building, staff are faced with the challenge of recruiting more volunteers.
“The main barrier we have to providing more services is that we need more volunteers to support the growth,” Nicola said.
“We hope this location will help us to attract people who want to help their communities and older people in the area.
“Volunteering also enables them to gain new skills and connections themselves.”
Acting as an office for the army, and then a Bank of Scotland branch, the property has undergone a facelift in time for Roar moving in thanks to Miller Joinery and Shopfitting Ltd.
Owner Garry Miller said: “We were pleased to be involved with this project.
“Roar is an organisation that really deserves an office that best suits its needs to carry out good work.”
Roar was awarded a contract from Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Contract last year to provide preventative health and wellbeing services to older people.
