Open day invitation

An information event about employing people to help those living with disabilities is being hosted by Renfrewshire Carers Centre.

It is being held in conjunction with SPAEN (Scottish Personal Assistant Employers Network) and is open to people who use Selfdirected Support (SDS).

SDS allows people to choose how their support is provided, and aims to give them as much control as they want of their individual budget.

This is the support a person purchases, or arranges, to meet their agreed health and social care outcomes.

SDS includes a number of options for getting support.

It can be taken as a direct cash payment; allocated to a provider the individual chooses; or given to the local council to arrange a service.

The open day wi l l welcome SDS recipients, carers and people who have a role in helping to support people with disabilities, or impairments, in using a direct payment to employ personal assistants.

The event will take place at Renfrewshire Carers Centre, Embroidery Mill, Abbey Mill Business Centre, Paisley, from 10.30am to 2.30pm, on Tuesday.

Phone 0141 887 3643 for more information.

 The next Carers Forum will be on Tuesday, March 6, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, when the subject under discussion will be ‘ What the Carers Act Will Mean to You’.

People should call the centre to let staff know if they will be going along.
