Down to a fine art Saturday class for creative kids

- Kathleen Speirs

The next Pablo Picasso could be right here in Paisley.

That’s what tutors at a series of new art classes discovered this weekend.

Paisley Museum is hosting a block of art classes which have gone down a storm so far.

Geared at older children, the classes are open to youngsters aged 11- 16. Participants have been learning lots of top tips when it comes to creating an artistic masterpiece.

But’s its not all easels and canvases. The Saturday Art Class allows the teens to express themselves through various forms of art.

Those who came along to the most recent session were working with all kinds of materials such as clay and wire.

As part of a six- week block, the latest Saturday Art Classes began on January 27 and will run until March 10.

Older kids pick up a paintbrush from 2pm till 4pm.

A Saturday class is also available for younger artists. Children aged seven to 11 meet from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Each session is lead by a professional artist who is on board to offer top tips and introduce new skills.

It costs £36 for one block of lessons.

Places are limited to 15 children per class.

To book your budding artists a place on the next block of lessons, call the Paisley Museum Box Office on 0300 300 1210.
