Step out and walk the walk for a worthy cause
Nurses at St Vincent’s Hospice walk up to 10,000 steps every shift caring for patients and their families.
Now hospice bosses are hoping Renfrewshire residents will support their hard-working staff by taking part in a sponsored 10k.
Step Up for St Vincent’s Hospice takes place on Sunday, March 25 at Castle Semple in Lochwinnoch at 11am. All proceeds from the event will go directly towards providing care and support for individuals and families throughout the community who are affected by life limiting conditions.
St Vincent’s fundraiser, Laura McDade, said: “Nurses at St Vincent’s walk the equivalent of 5k every shift. We aren’t asking people to walk 5k every day but we’d love them to take part in Step Up for St Vincent’s Hospice.
“Last year this event was extremely popular, and we predict that this year will be no different.
“A small step is a great way to start to make a difference, so why not make it a fun day out and bring along family, friends and colleagues to take part in this 10k walk? You can also take part in our shorter 5k walk, which is family friendly, buggy and wheelchair accessible.
“You can even bring the dog along to join in the fun.”
Entry is £10 and is free for under16s.
There is no minimum sponsorship amount but participants are encouraged to set a personal target.
