A major investigation has been launched after the body of man was discovered in a block of Paisley flats.
Murder squad cops, deployed from the Major Investigation Team, last night said they are treating the death at Williamsburgh Court as suspicious following the grim find.
The area was taped off as detectives carried out door-to-door enquiries in a bid to gather information.
Forensics teams and a police photographers were also scouring the scene, with paper evidence bags seen being removed by officers.
Police have not yet identified the man but say they are carrying out extensive inquiries to establish the circumstances of his death.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 10.50am on Sunday, March 4, police attended an address in Williamsburgh Court in Lacy Street, Paisley, after the discovery of the body of an as yet unidentified male.
“Enquiries are ongoing at this stage.”
It is understood a post mortem was due to be carried out last night.
Uniformed officers were signing visitors and residents in and out of the building.
Many residents from the Renfrewshire Council-owned flats were unaware of the incident.
A woman, who was visiting her elderly mother in the block, said police had spoken to her mum about the incident.
She added: “They were asking my mum if she had heard or seen anything on the 12th floor over the last week.”
Another resident told the Paisley Daily Express: “A few years ago, this place used to be bad but recently it has been okay.
“The police were asking if I had heard anything, I think it must have happened in the floors above me, but I didn’t hear anything at all.
“They mentioned a name to me, but I didn’t recognise it.”
A Renfrewshire Council spokesman added: “We are aware of an on- going incident at Williamsburgh Court which Police Scotland are investigating.”
