Pedal power push to battle killer disease

-

There’s snow stopping a cancer patient whose Spinathon will still go ahead – despite a battering from winter weather.

Catherine Anderson, 43, is pedaling for six hours in aid of women battlingthe disease.

Plunging temperatures have postponed the event until now.

But the mum-of-two insists she is still gearing-up for the special fundraiser.

Riders pay £10 to cycle for 30 minutes or £15 for an hour, with all cash going to charity.

Supporters who don’t fancy getting on their bike can make a donation in the collection buckets or peruse a host of charity stalls.

Pals and family were ready to descend on the Bowlfield Hotel’s Leisure Suite on Sunday.

Catherine, of Houston, will now get pedalling on Sunday, March 18 from 10am to 4pm.

She is coming to the end of cancer treatment and has vowed to complete the challenge. Money raised will help fund a colossal London to Paris cycle ride by Catherine and other local women, including Jennie McDermott, for the charity Women V Cancer.

Rachel Colbron. leisure centre supervisor at the Bowfield has been helping with the training.
