Museum jobs boost in £42 million revamp
Applications invited as programme gets underway
14.04.2018 Jobs have been advertised for Paisley Museum as it gets ready for its £ 42 million re-development.
The museum will close in the autumn for four years as the Paisley Museum Re- imagined programme gets underway.
Renfrewshire Council is looking for a Digital and New Media Officer, which is a post that comes with a salary ranging from £38,431 to £42,019 a year for 37 hours a week.
The contract is on a fixed-term basis until November 30, 2022.
The advertisement for the job reads: “We are looking for a creative, experienced and audience-focused Digital & New Media Officer to help create a high- quality museum visitor experience.
“Paisley Museum Re-Imagined is a £42 million redevelopment project due to be completed in 2022 which will reveal the stories associated with the internationally- significant collections of the museum and the people of Paisley and Renfrewshire.
“We are developing an objectbased storytelling museum and you will be responsible for defining and developing a digital strategy for the project.
“This includes the development of in-gallery interactives, online content, improved collections access and social media usage.
“You will have a proven track record of developing and delivering significant scale museum digital interpretative content and of managing the procurement, commissioning and contract management of all digital elements.”
The post of Art Curator has also been advertised.
This is a part- time role for 18-and-a-half hours a week on a salary scale of £14,961 to £16,341.
The advertisement states a person “who will think creatively about the fine and decorative art collections in our care” is being sought. The new curator will be required to investigate and research the collections, and work with community partners “to find the most compelling narratives for interpretation in the redeveloped museum”.
The advertisement adds: “Your work will make a direct and tangible contribution to the redevelopment of Paisley Museum and Art gallery – the flagship project in the cultural regeneration of Paisley and a legacy project if the town is successful in its bid to become UK City of Culture 2021.”
