Hero Alan in­spired re­u­nion

For­mer pupils of Castle­head High School are on their marks for a re­u­nion in mem­ory of teacher Alan Mel­drum.

Af­ter pass­ing away last year from Alzheimer’s dis­ease, one of Alan’s for­mer pupils, Scott McGeogh, is wel­com­ing any­one taught by the in­spi­ra­tional‘drilly’to a sports-day themed re­u­nion event at the school on May 5.

Scott, 45, said:“Alan Mel­drum is the sole rea­son I am a PE teacher. He spent week­ends, evenings and lunchtimes go­ing above and be­yond for pupils, while pro­duc­ing amaz­ing re­sults.

“This is will be a tes­ti­mony to how well-loved he was at Castle­head.”

To­tally over­whelmed by the out­pour­ing of sup­port, Alan’s son Andy, 49, thinks the event will be emo­tional.

“To see all of the ef­fort Scott and oth­ers are go­ing to is just amaz­ing,”he said.

“Iron­i­cally, my dad wouldn’t like this kind of thing as he was so mod­est.
