Burst main nightmare
Drivers came face to face with a car wash with a difference yesterday.
A burst water main in Kilbarchan’s Easdale Bank saw water shoot up as high as 30ft.
One Kilbarchan resident said: “The water was shooting up all over the road but cars just drove past it.
“There had been road resurfacing work all last week.
“I don’t know if that had anything to do with it or not.”
Scottish Water said the cause of the burst was unclear, however.
A spokesman said: “Scottish Water is dealing with a burst water main in Easwald Bank, Kilbarchan.
“Engineers are on site working to resolve the issue and thank customers and local residents for their patience and understanding while the repair is under way.”
A Renfrewshire Council spokesman said its road resurfacing work had finished on Saturday and had not involved deep excavation.
