Thug is fined
A thug has been fined after he bombarded his ex girlfriend with vile insults and then dodged court over his abusive behaviour.
Mark Lafferty tried to smash his way in to ex Dawn Cameron’s home in Candren Road, Paisley.
He repeatedly kicked the door of her home, demanding to be let in, before entering uninvited.
He was so out of control on November 25, 2017, that he was also charged with assaulting her by pushing her on the body, causing her to fall to the ground, before lying on top of her and pulling her hair.
Lafferty, 34, was due to go on trial at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday over the incident, but struck a deal with prosecutors to plead guilty to a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour and missing a court hearing, in exchange for the assault claims being dropped.
Procurator Fiscal Depute Emma Jeffrey said Lafferty called Cameron “a whore” and repeatedly called her “a f***** g boot”. before threatening to stab her neighbours.
Sheriff Seith Ireland fined him £180, reduced from £200 as he admitted his guilt, and deferred sentence on him for six months for him to be of good behaviour.
Lafferty is to return to the dock in October to learn his fate.
