Two out- o f - cont ro l teenagers caused £20,000 worth of damage during a rooftop stand- off with cops.

The boys smashed 27 windows and 300 roof tiles at the Kibble Education and Care Centre, in Paisley, during the two- hour incident.

Riot cops and emergency crews raced to deal with the siege as the pair pelted officers with missiles from above.

Specialist police negotiators were drafted in to talk the duo down as they continued to run amok on the roof, breaking windows and tiles.

The incident was sparked at around 5.25pm on Monday when the boys climbed on to the top of a building and began causing havoc.

It was eventually brought to a peaceful end when the boys were persuaded to come down at around 7.30pm.

It is understood 27 windows, including 10 Velux windows, were smashed along with 300 roof tiles.

The cost of the damage is estimated at around £20,000.

It has not been revealed what sparked the tense impasse with officers at the Goudie Street centre.

Police Scotland say a large number of officers were involved in dealing with the teenagers’ dangerous antics.
