Snow Patrol are drifting back

- Long-awaited new album

Snow Patrol are back after seven years of absence from the music scene.

The Northern Irish band, who came to prominence in the mid noughties with tracks such as Run and Chasing Cars, have finally decided that the time is right for a new album, entitled Wilderness.

Describing the reason for the title, Snow Patrol’s drummer, Jonny Quinn, said: “Wildness, being that the world feels wilder. There feels like there is more chaos than there used to be.”

They are also keen to be back on the road and claim that this time they are here to stay.

He said:“We like the studio but getting to go out and play all over the world is the most thrilling part.

“We won’t have another seven-year break this time.” Former Fugees frontwoman Lauryn Hill comes to Glasgow on November 23.

Most famous for her RnB rendition of Killing Me Softly in the mid-90s, Hill left the Fugees to launch a solo career in 1997 with her debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill following a year later.

The European tour, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the album, follows a tour of the US and begins with a date at the Spektrum, in Oslo, on the November 15, and arrives at Glasgow’s SECC Hydro on November 23.

Speaking about the classic album, Lauryn said: “This album chronicled an A true legend visits Scotland

intimate piece of my young existence. It was the summation of most, if not all, of my most hopeful and positive emotions experienced to that date.

“I loved and believed deeply in my community’s ability to both love and heal itself provided it received the right amount of support and encouragement.”

Comprising hits such as Doo Wop (That Thing) and Everything Is Everything, the album became the biggest-selling smash from a debut female artist at that time, reaching number 1 in the albums charts in the US.

It has sold an estimated 19 million copies worldwide to date.

RnB fans are sure to be delighted by the return of one of the most iconic female names in the genre.

The multi-platinum artist has received 10 Grammy nominations, with five Grammy wins throughout her career to date.

Despite numerous setbacks in her personal life and a realistic outlook on today’s society, she remains optimistic.

“Our world today, both complex and changing, is in need of the balance between moral fortitude and cathartic expression,” she said.

“I hope the love and energy that permeated this work can continue to inspire change with love and optimism at the helm.”

Ever socially aware, Hill has ensured that a portion of the ticket sales go towards the MLH Fund, which “directly contributes to support for education, health, agriculture, technology, and community based businesses and development initiatives throughout the Diaspora.”

Prices for the concert are priced from £30, and VIP packages will be available for a limited time through www.MsHillVIPs.com and Live Nation.
