Walk this way to get fit

-

People in Barrhead are being encouraged to get outside this June after Scotland’s walking charity launched the 15th annual Big Fit Walk.

Organised by Paths for All, the campaign will see East Renfrewshire become more active over the next four weeks as the charity encourages people of all ages and abilities to organise a 30-minute walk, or join one being held in their local area.

The campaign aims to inspire communities across Scotland to come together for a stroll to celebrate the benefits of being active.

Walks in East Renfrewshire are already being planned, with some scheduled to take place in Barrhead in the first week of June.

Ian Findlay, Chief Officer at Paths for All said: “Launching the Big Fit Walk is one of the highlights of our year because it sees communities, groups and individuals come together to enjoy the many benefits of simply going for a 30-minute walk.

“Last year, more than 200 walks took place across the country involving people of all ages and abilities.

“Paths for All is committed to promoting everyday walking as one of the easiest ways to improve your overall health and wellbeing through physical activity.

“The Big Fit Walk is a great way for us to spread this message, bring people together and nourish a sense of community.”
