Elderslie made a riproaring start to the P& D Division One bowls league with a stunning win over Linwood.

A 14- 2 victory was enough to put the side top of the table on the opening week of action, but they are closely followed by Renfrew and Caledonia, who both recorded 10-6 victories.

Barrhead were on the receiving end of a loss to Renfrew, while Caledonia saw off Anchor.

Meiklerigg­s will be delighted with their 9- 7 defeat of Kilbarchan, while Blacklandm­ill and Wellmeadow shared an 8-8 draw.

Elderslie will be hoping to follow up their win when the teams go back to the greens this afternoon.

They welcome Wellmeadow, while Kilbarchan and Linwood will both be looking to record their first win of the season when they take on each other.

Week two fixtures are: Anchor v Blacklandm­ill, Barrhead v Caledonia, Elderslie v Wellmeadow, Kilbarchan v Linwood, Meiklerigg­s v Renfrew.

In Division Two, it is Charleston setting the early pace, following their own 14- 2 win over Abercorn on the first game week.

Hawkhead and Victoria both recorded 9- 7 wins, over Ferguslie and Priorscrof­t respective­ly, while Neilston and Ralston shared an 8-8 draw.

The leaders this week take on Hawkhead, while Abercorn face Victoria, Priorscrof­t welcome Ralston, and Ferguslie take on Neilston.
