Paisley and Bishopton selected from over 140 applications
Bishopton RFC and Paisley RFC have been awarded a prize on behalf of Royal Bank RugbyForce.
The Renfrewshire clubs will receive their prizes ahead of RugbyForce weekend on August 11 and 12, when rugby clubs across the country will host a number of pre-season events, from DIY days to Community Fun Days and raising awareness of the participating clubs within their local areas.
Both clubs have been recognised as Star Clubs and will each receive a £ 1,000 cash prize, branded merchandise and a visit from a current Scottish international player on RugbyForce weekend. The club will be putting their grant towards a club DIY Day.
More than 140 clubs had applied for Royal Bank RugbyForce support this year where an official panel of judges picked winners that demonstrated detailed and creative plans for RugbyForce weekend events that would benefit the wider community and grow passion for the game.
Malcolm Buchanan, chairman of Royal Bank of Scotland Scotland Board, said: “We were delighted with the standard of applications this year. The enthusiasm, commitment, and passion for rugby was clear throughout both clubs’ entries and we know that each of the events will be a fantastic success.
“We have witnessed first hand the huge difference the Royal Bank RugbyForce programme has made to clubs and the communities in which they play, helping them grow and flourish.
“This year’s campaign was about celebrating everything we have achieved together over the last decade and encouraging people to get out and show support for their local club.
“We really encourage everyone, whether it be club members, volunteers or people in the community to head to their local club for Royal Bank RugbyForce weekend.”
Royal Bank RugbyForce has donated more than £ 500,000 of funding and kit in the past 10 years to help more community clubs develop facilities that continue to make them appealing to their local communities and safe organisations for the future.
