Brute breaks woman’s nose

Cops are hunting a brute who left a woman with a broken nose in a vicious street attack.

The yob hurled a bottle at the 42-year-old victim following a disturbanc­e at Newark Street, Glenburn, in Paisley, around 7pm on Thursday.

A group of residents had been at a house party when trouble flared and a number of guests spilled out into the street when the incident took place.

Police believe the suspect leapt from a car and joined in the affray by throwing the bottle at his victim’s face before he fled the scene.

The incident was quickly reported to cops and the woman was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where she received treatment for a broken nose and bruising to her eyes.

Officers at Mill Street said they are treating the attack as an assault on the woman and they are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police added they are following a positive line of inquiry regarding the culprit, who is believed to be in his 30s and comes from the Paisley area.

Community Inspector Tracey Harkins told the Paisley Daily Express:“A 42-year-old woman suffered a broken nose and bruising to her eyes following an incident at Newark Street.

“Anyone who witnessed the assault or people who may have informatio­n are asked to contact police.”
