£600 fine for abuse rap nurse

-

A motor- mouthed mum trailed her ex down the road then hurled abuse when he pulled up at traffic lights.

Kelly McLafferty, 35, raced after former hubby Steven – then hurled bigoted abuse at a girl of 13.

The yob then ranted at her ex’s new partner during a prank phone call.

McLafferty admitted acting in a threatening or abusive manner and making raciallyaggravated remarks at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Prosecutor Frank Clarke told how the couple had been warring over custody of their six-year-old daughter.

He said: “McLafferty would appear to have seen the car being driven by her former partner.

“She followed in the same direction as the car.

“On stopping at lights, she drew level with the car, she had the window of her car down.

“She was shouting towards the car and towards the teenage girl.

“During the shouting she referred to her as an ‘English b*****d’.

“This caused her to experience fear and alarm.”

McLafferty chased down the motor on Kings Inch Road in Renfrew.

She yelled abuse at the girl, who was a passenger in the other car.

The yob drove off after terrifying the teen on December 23 last year.

McLafferty was also rapped for taking part in an abusive phone call to her ex’s new partner.

The dental nurse had been ordered to keep away from the couple.

But was heard raving in the background after her daughter Chloe, 19, rang Claire Garcia.

Mr Clarke added: “She was heard to be shouting in the background and directing swear words and threats.

“It was along the lines of, ‘ We are coming for you next.’”

Defence lawyer Archibald Hill admitted his client lashed out after the end of her marriage.

He said: “She’s most remorseful.

“She knows full well not to do this.

Sheriff Seith Ireland fined the lout and warned she would face a stern punishment for any repeat.

He said: “The type of language used is completely unacceptable.

“For people to be abused because they are English, Asian or whatever is completely reprehensible and will not be tolerated by the courts.”

McLafferty, of Biggar, South Lanarkshire, was ordered to pay £600.
