Johnstone Burgh boss Jamie McKim insists his side will be gunning for cup glory – for the first time in 30 years.

A win over Benburb tonight would book the Keanie Park side’s spot in the second round of the Sectional League Cup after three decades of trying.

Two wins from two have put Burgh in pole position to get through to the closing stages of the competition after beating both Neilston and Arthurlie in Johnstone in recent days. And McKim admits he is feeling the pressure of getting his side through to the next round.

He told Express Sport: “One of the committee pulled me aside on Monday night and told me the club hasn’t gotten out of the group stages for 30 years.

“That’s one way to put pressure on you.

“The guys have been magnificent so far and they haven’t been overawed by any of the opposition. That is two very good Championship sides that they have beaten now and they can be confident of going to beat Benburb as well.

“It hasn’t just been two great results – there have also been two great performances.

“In a group with the calibre of teams that we are facing, it was always going to be difficult. But the boys have fought hard and played some great football and they deserve to be in this position.”

Burgh got their cup campaign off to a flying start, after beating Championship outfit Neilston 2-0 at Keanie Park on Saturday.

Sam Esplin fired home the opener on the stroke of half-time, before the striker doubled his tally
