RONA’S GOING FOR A GONG
Scottish call-up for Habbie
Kilbarchan AAC’s Rona Tytler is on the hunt for medals after being called up to represent Scotland at next month’s Junior Home International.
The Habbie will don a Scotland vest after being named in the Under-20 Womens’ side for the hill running event.
Tytler and the rest of the Scotland runners will head across the Irish Sea, with Ireland hosting the races at Glendalough on Saturday, September 8.
She will be up against rivals from England, Wales and Ireland as vies for a spot on the podium.
A Scottish Athletics spokesman said: “We are delighted to now confirm selection for 16 young athletes with teams of four names in two age groups – at U20 and U17 level. This follows on from the trials races last weekend at Aberfoyle with current form also taken into account.
“It’s a great moment for all those selected and their clubs, with Giffnock North AC having helped develop three of the eight female athletes selected while Garscube are represented in three of the four teams.
“With athletes selected from Forres and East Sutherland in the North to Moorfoot in the Borders and from Lasswade and Fife AC in the east to those Glasgow-based clubs, this team really does cover the length and breadth of Scotland.
“Congrat u l at i o n s f rom all at scottishathletics to all those selected and to their families, coaches and clubs and all the best for the trip to Glendalough.”
