Course vows to show women there is life beyond breast cancer

-

Leading charity Breast Cancer Care is holding a free course in Paisley to help women adjust to life beyond breast cancer.

Working in partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Breast Cancer Care’s course will provide information and support to women who have reached the end of their hospital based treatment for primary breast cancer.

The course will include talks from psychologists and dieticians, providing expert guidance.

There will also be discussions around adjusting and adapting after a breast cancer diagnosis, managing the ongoing side effects of treatment and breast awareness after surgery.

Taking place every Tuesday morning for four consecutive weeks, Moving forward: living with and beyond breast cancer, is starting on November 6 at the Watermill Hotel in Paisley.

Linsey Valiente, services development coordinator at Breast Cancer Care, said: “There are an estimated 691,000 people alive after a diagnosis of breast cancer today in the UK.

“The need for support doesn’t end when treatment finishes.

“In fact, it is often the time people need us the most.

Four Paisley women are taking part in the Breast Cancer Care Scotland Fashion Show on October 25.

Ana Ireland, Josie DrageDawes, Marion Coyle and Jackie Gray will be strutting their stuff in the face of cancer and proving that the devastating diagnosis won’t define their lives.

Some were diagnosed many years ago, while others are currently receiving treatment.

The fashion show takes place at the Hilton Glasgow Hotel on Thursday, October 25.

Funds raised at the show will help Breast Cancer Care continue to provide care and information.
