Parents trek in memory of Lisa

-

Parents trekking through Spain in memory of their daughter have called for backing as they aim to raise £3,000.

Lisa Moran, who would have turned 31 this year, was knocked down and killed by a bus while out jogging near the University of North Carolina in May 2008.

The Paisley girl, who attended St Andrew’s Academy, had her life cut short while studying abroad as part of her third-year studies for a law and business degree at Glasgow University.

Now her heartbroken parents Carolyn, 59, and Fraser, 60, are determined to pay tribute to her and mark the decade that has passed since her death.

The pair are currently completing the gruelling Camino challenge in a bid to raise £3,000 for the charity they set up in Lisa’s name.

Fraser told the Express they hoped the six-week trek across the ancient spiritual path in northern Spain would help them to come to terms with losing their beloved daughter.

He said:“We became aware of Camino a few years ago and thought it would be an adventure.

“People do it for a whole smorgasbord of reasons but, for us, we hoped it would be something to help us to come to terms with the death of our daughter.

“We don’t expect it to provide all the answers but we felt it might bring us closer to Lisa.”

Lisa’s Gift, which helps disadvantaged children take part in school trips and clubs that they may otherwise be unable to afford, has gone on to raise nearly £60k for children in Renfrewshire over the last three years.

Lisa’s younger siblings Kevin, 27, and Natalie, 19, volunteer alongside their parents to raise as much as possible in memory of their sister.
