Johnstone Town Hall will come alive with song and dance when the talented St Paul’s drama group take to the stage.

The amateur drama group, which is based in the town’s St Paul’s Church, is staging the popular Sound of Music musical for four nights later this month.

St Paul’s Drama was formed in 1966 and celebrated its 52nd anniversary this year. It started with plays, then pantos and in 1990, the group started doing musicals such as Oklahoma, Guys and Dolls, Oliver, King and I, Carousel, Whistle Down the Wind and many more.

Last year’s White Christmas was a big hit with audiences and the team behind Sound of Music hope the people of Johnstone and the surrounding area will snap up tickets for this year’s production.

Musical director Linda Rae said this year’s show was a family affair.

She said: “Our cast is made up of members and this year we have two families taking part. Gran Yvonne Greig is playing the housekeeper with her daughter Lorna Stewart playing Maria and granddaughter Jessica Stewart as Gretl.

“Captain Von Trapp is played by Iain Usher and his son Cavan is also playing the role of his son, Kurt, in the show.”

Tickets are selling well and are priced £12 for adults and £10 for children and concessions.

Members of the group’s junior section are playing the roles of the Von Trapp children and the production team includes director Heather Morrison and stage manager David Connell.

The show takes place at Johnstone Town Hall from Wednesday, October 24 till Saturday, October 27 at 7.30pm including a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

Tickets can be obtained from Linda Rae on 07901 334952, Wendy Young on 01505 320554 or from Top Cards, High Street, Johnstone.
