A drink- driver has been banned from the road after she was five-times the limit – with a baby and two other young children in her car.

Ranjina Kaur Devine, 36, had an 11-month-old, a toddler and a four-year-old in the motor when she was caught by police.

She revealed she had been drinking wine at lunch after boozing at a party the night before.

At a hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court, Devine admitted being under the influence.

Sheriff Colin Pettigrew blasted her for her recklessness. He said: “You were aware you had consumed alcohol over the course of the previous evening.

“This had progressed into the early hours.

“During lunch you had some more alcohol.

“You were stopped by the police at 5pm.

“It wasn’t until 6.45pm the breath samples were taken.

“You were under the influence of alcohol with three young children in the vehicle.

“Your irresponsible behaviour placed them, you and the public at risk.”

Officers pulled Devine over after she was spotted getting into her Vauxhall Astra and leaving Soar at intu Braehead.

The court heard police received an anonymous call that she may have been driving after drinking.

They spotted her in slow moving traffic and got her to pull over. They discovered she had three kids in the car.

She was slurring, her eyes were glazed and she smelled of alcohol.

Cops ordered her to provide a roadside breath test after she was stopped on Kings Inch Road in Renfrew.

She blew a reading of 108 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath – the limit is just 22.

Devine also admitted she had no insurance for the black five- door hatchback.

Defence lawyer Derick Williamson said: “She wasn’t thinking straight.

“She had been at a party the night before. “She’s mortified. “She will face difficulties due to the disqualification.

“I would ask for you to be lenient.”

The driver has been banned from the road for two years.

Devine, of Clarkston, East Renfrewshire, has also been ordered to carry out 160 hours of
