Meet the ‘As’ team Great results for bright sparks
These bright sparks at Trinity High School have started their new school term with a bang.
The high- achievers helped the Renfrew school gain a record number of National 5 and Higher qualifications.
And one – Charlotte Luse – received a special award from the Modern Studies Educational Trust congratulating her on being the highest achieving Modern Studies Higher candidate 2018, scoring a perfect 100 per cent.
The students were celebrated at the school’s annual senior awards ceremony with proud parents and family members invited along.
They heard from guest speaker Maura Currie, a former pupil of the school who is now head of presentation at BBC Scotland.
She and headteacher Margaret Ann Renfrew handed over certificates of achievement, medals and plaques to the pupils.
Mrs Renfrew said: “We have increased our results across the board in all areas. We believe it’s down to the hard work of the pupils working with the staff. Staff give extra support to pupils who take them up on it.
“It’s down to the pupils’ commitment and hard work.”
Mrs Renfrew also congratulated Charlotte on her Modern Studies achievement. She said: “Charlotte is a fantastic student and excellent role model for younger pupils in the school.”
A total of 21 pupils gained five Highers and 34 achieved seven National 5 awards. Of those, five S4 pupils received seven As in their National 5 exams while eight S5 students gained five As at Higher.
Pupils at the awards ceremony were also congratulated for their work outside of school.
