‘Frew share points

- Cambuslang ......... 2 Renfrew ................ 2

Renfrew battled back from two goals down to secure an unlikely point away to Cambuslang Rangers.

Colin Clark’s men haven’t had their troubles to seek this season as they remain second bottom of the Premiership.

However, they will take hope and confidence away from a weekend that, at one point, looked destined to be another drubbing.

Callum McRobbie opened the scoring for the hosts after just nine minutes to put them in the driving seat. And when Jordon Morton doubled the hosts’ lead in 20 minutes it appeared that there was already no way back for the visitors.

But instead of accepting their fate Renfrew rolled their sleeves up and put in a shift that would ultimately lead them back into the game.

Although they were unable to get themselves back in to contention before half-time, Renfrew came out looking even stronger in the second period.

Dominic Innes reduced the deficit straight from a corner kick in 55 minutes to give Renfrew hope.

And when Scott Faulds was sent off for the hosts, ‘Frew sensed that they had a chance.

Kieron Maxwell was the man to level up the scores with a superb volley from 25 yards with just nine minutes remaining.

But he too saw red late on to put any hopes of victory on the backburner.
