Oran:We’ve got to get into gear

-

St Mirren manager Oran Kearney insists Saints can’t mope around until January – as they might be cut adrift by then.

The Northern Irishman is expected to ring the changes when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

He has already made his mark by bringing in four free agents since taking the reins at the start of September.

But Kearney insists he is focused on the here and now.

Kearney said:“We have to put as

good a stamp on the team as we can right now. It is important we stay in the mix and stay in touch with the teams around us.

“If we make a change or two in January it will probably be dictated to by whether we are in the mix or out of touch.

“If we are out of touch then that would make it harder to bring in players. That is three months away and we have to worry about the now.”

One new signing, Simeon Jackson, made his mark at the weekend as the striker fired home his first goal in St Mirren colours. Kearney admits he hopes to see more of the same from the Canada international as he turns to the former Norwich striker to fire them up the league.

He added:“I thought Simeon was fantastic at the weekend and our stand out player.

“He is only in a week and a half and he looked sharper than last week and with more training he will come up to speed.”
