Gillham dons Scots vest for Leeds Dash

Kilbarchan runner Euan Gillham is back in the internatio­nal frame after being called up for the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k.

Gillham, the current Paisley 10k champion, will don the Scotland vest for the event alongside a host of internatio­nal regulars.

European Championsh­ip medallist Eilish McColgan is also set to race for Scotland next month.

McColgan won silver in the 5000m in Berlin and will now lead our female selection for the race in Yorkshire on Sunday 4 November.

Luke Traynor, the Scottish Half Marathon champion after the Great Scottish Run last weekend, is the topranked pick for the Scotland men’s team for Leeds.

Current form was taken into account as part of the selection process including the Scottish 10K Champs at Stirling and recent races in Inverness and Glasgow.

Under the Road Running and Cross Count r y Commission guidelines, one athlete in each team is U23.

Women: Eilish McColgan ( Dundee Haw k h i l l , Liz McColgan), Mhairi Maclennan ( Edinburgh Uni Hare and Hounds, John Lees), Steph Pennycook ( Edinburgh Uni Hare and Hounds, John Lees), Annabel Simpson ( Fife AC, Steve Doig) U23.

Men: Luke Traynor (Giffnock North AC, Robert Hawkins), Adam Craig ( Edinburgh AC, Matthew van Lierop), Grant Sheldon ( Cambuslang Harriers), Euan Gillham (Kilbarchan AAC, Robert Hawkins).
