St Mirren senior men continued their early-season run of wins as they booked their spot in the next round of the Scottish Cup with a 106-62 win over Edinburgh Lions .

Veteran Graham Hunter was the only Saint missing from the squad with a chest infection, as Saints lined up with Nick Collins, Chris Cleary, Scott Armstrong, Chris Barron and Fergus Harte.

The five got things going with a quick start right from the tip.

Collins and Cleary settled quickly while Barron and Harte provided the speed down the court.

Seventeen points for Cleary, including three three-point shots, and nine points from Collins let the visitors know what they were up against.

The second period, as might have been expected, had the visitors attempting to fight their way back into contention as Saints ran through the substitutions to include the whole team on the scoresheet.

The most notable was Liam Stevenson’s first shot being a three-point score and junior player Brad Low closing out the period with his score under the basket, as half-time arrived at 56-37.

The start of the second half called for renewed concentration and energy to prevent any sort of comeback from the Lions and another 31 points was enough.

Armstrong’s running and effort under the basket gave him nine of his 11 points for the game.

The final period played out with Saints running through the team again and young Low and Harte led the scores with four points each.

A tally of 19-15 in the final quarter reflected a game that was comfortable for the Saints as they advanced in the cup at 106-62.
