Expansion will bring new jobs
The science and technology sector in Renfrewshire has been given a boost with the expansion of a new facility in Inchinnan.
Renfrewshire Council leader Iain Nicolson was delighted to be there when the ribbon was cut declaring the Thermo Fisher Scientific’s new facility in Inchinnan open.
The expansion will see 10 manufacturing jobs created at the campus in the next 18 months, adding to the 800-strong workforce.
Once completed, it will enable the manufacturing of all products used in cell biology for small and large laboratories, ranging from a research bench to production-scale facilities worldwide.
Councillor Nicolson said:“Thermo Fisher Scientific is a hugely important employer in Renfrewshire.
“We are delighted to see their continued commitment to providing high-skilled jobs in the area and remain determined to create the conditions that attract major investment to the county.
“The expansion at Thermo Fisher Scientific builds on the work now under way to develop a manufacturing district that will bring thousands more jobs and opportunities to the area.”
Site leader David Rae said:“Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Paisley campus has played a critical role in developing leading technology for the life sciences industry since 1970.
“This ceremony celebrates the expansion of the campus and Thermo Fisher Scientific’s continued commitment to the local community.”
