Foxbar’s future mapped out by community team
Community leaders, schools and charities have come together to pen a vision for the future of Foxbar, writes Jack Thomson, Local Democracy Reporter.
A report explaining residents’plans to breathe new life into the Paisley district was praised by councillors at Tuesday’s Communities, Housing and Planning Policy Board.
The area’s vision for the next ten years focuses on four themes including civic pride, community activity, homes and facilities and parks and green spaces.
Improving Durrockstock Park by tidying trees and vegetation and cleaning out the pond has been highlighted as a key priority, while a community growing area could be formed.
Creating more opportunities for young people through youth work and more weekend activities has also been suggested.
A new skate park, graffiti wall and parkour facility have been put forward as potential ideas for the community.
Board convener Councillor Marie McGurk commended an“excellent report”.
She added:“It’s showing the way forward in how we should be working with our communities.”
Meanwhile Paisley Southwest Councillor Stephen Burns said:“There’s been great community engagement with local businesses and the tenants.
“I just want to thank the officers for their time and work in this report.”
