Council leader’s cash vow
There are no plans to pull financial support for East Renfrewshire’s Culture and Leisure Trust (ERCLT).
The promise was made by council leader Tony Buchanan, who admitted he is happy for the local authority to provide an openended line of credit to the trust until at least September next year.
Councillors handed over £ 225,000 to cover a huge overspend by the trust earlier this year.
Two letters of comfort promising ongoing support to ensure the organisation could continue operating have also been written by council chiefs.
That happened despite it being revealed that the trust’s chief executive Anthony McReavy got a bumper pay rise, which saw his salary go from £65,099 to £73,814.
