Heroin haul admitted

-

A man panicked when cops visited his girlfriend’s flat and blurted out: ‘There’s heroin here.’

Gerard Fox, 44, let police in before handing over his drugs haul.

He was cuffed after revealing his coffee table stash.

During a hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court, Fox admitted possession of the Class-A drug.

Prosecutor Emma Jeffrey told how officers recovered a wrap of brown powder.

She said: “Police officers attended with a search warrant. He was present inside. He was detained and immediately indicated to the police that he had something within his house. He moved a spectacles case from the living room table.

“The end of a polythene bag could be seen hanging out the side.”

Fox was nabbed after the raid on June 7.

Police carried out a full sweep of the flat in Braehead Road, Paisley.

Experts tested the powder and confirmed it was heroin.

Defence lawyer Charlie McCusker insisted his client had managed to break his habit.

He said: “He accepts the item was his. He’s in a relationship with the householder. He did have a drug problem. He dabbled.

“He’s was on Subutex but is now drug free.”

The court heard Fox made the admission to police.

He admitted he had told the officers about the drugs, worth £40.

Sheriff Lindsey Kooner urged him to stay clear of the killer opiate. She said: “You have pled guilty to this offence. I have looked at your record and, while you have an analogous offence, that was back in 2004.

“I will deal with this matter by imposition of a fine.”

Fox, of nearby Grampian Avenue, was ordered to pay £160.
