The Canadian striker dusted himself down and didn’t look short on confidence as he lashed home the resulting spot-kick in off the underside of the crossbar to net Saints’ first goal in three games.

St Mirren failed to hammer home their advantage and struggled to control the game in the aftermath.

With the challenges flying in, Edwards was lucky to escape with a yellow card for a late lunge on Kerr.

But the boos turned to cheers from the home support 11 minutes before the interval as they levelled the scoring.
