Paisley youth team Glenvale 2004 have announced they are to pair up with the Down’s Syndrome awareness campaign ‘Wouldn’t Change a Thing’ for the rest of the season.

The nationwide campaign aims to raise awareness for children with the genetic condition and hopes to tackle stigma and negative attitudes.

Players and coaches from the team hope to lend their backing to the charity through events and fund raising for the remainder of the season.

In the coming months they hope to have the logo on their new Nike training gear, host a charity five-a-side tournament and build friendships with children involved in the campaign by inviting them to training sessions or games.

Head coach Kyle Reid is delighted with the partnership and insists it will have a positive impact for the youngsters involved and the campaign as a whole.

He said: “This is a great opportunity for the boys to take ownership of fundraising for a great cause.

“We hope supporters will stay tuned for updates and how they can help Glenvale and the campaign.”

The team, meanwhile, has announced a new physio has been appointed to help keep the lads in top shape throughout the season.

A club spokesman said: “We are over the moon to announce that Kelly Maree Watson will be joining the coaching staff for the remainder of the 2018/19 season.

“Kelly Maree is currently studying for her Masters degree at Glasgow Caledonia University, and will bring a great deal of experience in terms of strength and conditioning to the team.”
