Festive rammy yob is fined

An abusive yob who attacked his partner and during a Christmas Eve rammy, has been hit with a hefty fine.

Charles Christie, 45, admitting assaulting Nicole McHutchon by seizing her by the body, during a disturbanc­e at a property in Kintyre Avenue, Linwood.

The accused also admitted a separate offence of behaving in a threatenin­g and abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear and alarm by shouting, swearing and acting aggressive­ly towards his partner’s mother during the same incident on December 24, 2016.

Chr i s t i e a p p e a red yesterday after the court had called for background reports prior to handing him his punishment.

Defence agent Gordon Nicol said: “The report reveals in detail his attitude to offence. He regrets the matter.

“One of the ladies is his mother in law, who is suffering ill health.

“This has focused everyone’s attention on the current situation and he is hoping to put the matter behind him.

“He works full time and has a good work ethic and would be willing to pay a financial penalty.”

Sh e r i f f James Spy concurred with the lawyer and said he was willing to deal with the matter by imposing a monetary penalty.

He fined Christie a total of £450 for both offences, which the accused to repay at £50 per week.
