Tragic road accident victim Emanuil loses his fight for life
He dies in hospital five days after being struck by car
A man has sadly died five days after he was hit by a car in the west end of Paisley.
Tragic Emanuil Paunov Asparhov, 64, was struck by a Vauxhall Mokka driven by a 50-year-old woman as he crossed Gallow Green Road last Thursday.
He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow following the accident but succumbed to his injuries yesterday morning.
Cops probing the crash, which happened on the northbound carriageway near the road’s junction with Maxwellton Street and Broomlands Street at around 6.25pm, have appealed for the occupants of a dark coloured car who stopped to help at the scene to get in touch.
Sergeant Andy Mair said: “We know from enquiries carried out so far that a dark coloured car stopped and the male driver got out to assist at the incident, however he left before police arrived.
“I am appealing for this driver and any occupants of the car to contact us as they could have vital information.”
Officers also urged motorists to check dash cam footage to see if they may have captured the incident.
Sergeant Mair added: “We are also appealing for any dash cam footage as it may have captured images which could assist us in our investigation.”
The road was closed for around five hours last week a specialist Police Scotland collision experts worked at the scene.
Witnesses describe seeing the stricken man on the road surrounded by shopping after the horror smash.
One man who asked not to be named said: “I knew it was bad when the guy’s shopping had been scattered across the road and the police had actually put a cordon round each bit with police tape.”
Mr Asparhov was originally from Bulgaria but had been living in Paisley.
