Oran: Paul is alright on the right
Oran Kearney has heaped praise on Paul McGinn for adapting to his new midfield role.
The St Mirren full back has been transformed into a right midfielder in recent weeks and appears to have taken to the position with relative ease.
He provided assists for both goals in the weekend win over Hearts, and boss Kearney credited his mentality for knuckling down and learning his new spot.
He said: “Paul has been different class. He has been about the league for a long time but more than anything he brings a huge work ethic and hard graft.
“The amount of times he turned the ball over on Saturday was brilliant, and he had a couple of good chances to score himself.
“His energy levels have been brilliant – especially against the bigger teams.
“Versatility is fantastic at any club and the fact he can play right back, centre back, and right midfield, is worth its weight in gold.
“It is no secret the squad is too big and we are looking to reduce it. With that, Paul becomes very important.
“I needed Paul to play and I think it is a no brainer to shoehorn him.
“He could have easily said I’m not a right midfielder and taken a huff – but he has done the opposite and embraced it.
“He’s been outstanding in the two games he has played there.”
