A teenager has been busted for running a ‘deals on wheels’ drugs service in Paisley.

Rhys Wembridge, 19, was snared with £ 1,500 worth of cocaine and £ 665 worth of heroin after police received a tip off that drugs were dealt from a gold coloured Renault Megane.

When cops pulled the car over, they found the Class-A drugs had been separated into individual wraps, which were stashed in the waistband of Wembridge’s underwear.

Prosecutor Keri Marshall told Paisley Sheriff Court : “Police had been in receipt of actionable intelligence that a gold coloured Renault Megane driven in the Paisley area was involved in the sale and supply of controlled drugs.

“On August 10 police were on mobile patrol at a set of traffic lights at Incle Street when they saw the Renault Megane, which had the same registration plate as their intelligence.

“They saw the accused sitting in the front passenger seat. Officers indicated for the car to pull over, which it did.

“They detained the accused and the driver.

“The accused was searched, and during the course of the search, numerous small wraps of brown powder were found in the waistband of the accused’s boxer shorts.

“The accused then voluntarily removed a further two polythene bags, one contained four wraps of a white substance.

“The other bag contained numerous smaller wraps of the same white substance. These were seized as was the accused’s mobile phone.”

The court heard the drugs were sent away for forensic analysis where tests confirmed Wembridge had £1,500 worth of cocaine and £665 worth of heroin, when he was busted.

He had 27 wraps of cocaine in deals of between 0.33 and 0.37 grams and 19 wraps of heroin weighing between 0.65 and 0.66 grams.

He was interviewed by police but made a “no comment” interview to officers.

Wembridge appeared from custody where he pleaded guilty to charges of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs, namely Class-A substances cocaine and heroin, in Paisley.

However, the court heard claims that drug abuser Wembridge owed money to a notorious drug dealer and had been forced into selling the gear on the streets to clear off his debts.

Defence agent Jonathan Manson said: “He had a fairly serious drugs habit and owed a substantial amount of money to a dealer who is well known to the Crown.

“He was threatened by the dealer than unless he ran these drugs for him, serious harm would come to him.

“But he has accepted responsibility for this. He knew what he was doing. He knows it is a serious matter.”

We m b r i d g e , who formerly lived in temporary accommodation in the middle of Paisley, was released from prison in March on licence for a knife attack in Glenburn where he stabbed his former pal Mr John Gordon with a pen knife.

Sheriff James Spy remanded the accused in custody for background reports.

He will learn of his fate when appears back at court on January 18.
