Renfrew ladies look into the past

-

The latest meeting of Renfrew Ladies’ Speakers Club took a look back into the past.

“November Bl u e s” said Marion Henderson, announcing the title of a humorous poem about long suffering Brits.

Jess Cross went on to regret that conversation was becoming a thing of the past.

“Avoid the demise of the spoken word and join a speakers’ club,” she said.

Joan Mi l b u r n w a s c ha i rwoma n o f the competition that would follow. Contestants would all evaluate the same speech by Irene Thom. Her title was Clutter.

People were laughing as they recognised familiar scenes of keeping too much clutter in the home.

What followed was an evaluation of the speaker’s performance by three contestants. The winner of the evaluation contest was Myra Hunter.

The meeting was the last of the session. There will be a festive event this month.

The next club meeting is to be held on Thursday, January 10, in the Glynhill Hotel.
