Livi boss praises his comeback kids

-

Livingston gaffer Gary Holt insists his side didn’t need a rollicking at half time – despite being down to Saints.

Even if Holt was adamant he never had a go at his men – they played like he did as they ran out 3-1 winners.

He said: “I think the days are gone that you rant and rave at half time.

“You have to coax the best out of the players.

“I can be fiery at the best of times but it was all about getting into the minds of individuals.

“St Mirren made it hard for us and credit to them, they frustrated us in the first half.

“It’s tough when you’re a goal down at half time and it was about giving the players a chance to rectify themselves.

“In the second half you saw what we were about, always on the front foot winning tackles and headers.”

Holt reserved special praise for former St Mirren loanee Ryan Hardie, who again scored against the Paisley side.

Holt added: “Ryan was great too.

“I was actually thinking of taking him off as he’s been out for a long time.

“We left it though as we thought he would get a chance.

“Nine times out of ten players would have hit that first time but I thought that he showed great composure.”
